Liane Alyce Romary, 51, of Abingdon, Maryland, passed away Monday, December 11, 2023, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. She was born in February of 1972 to Arlen and Elizabeth (Hess) Romary in Battle Creek, Michigan. She is survived by her mother; her father and his wife, Carole; and three sisters, JoAnn Cain and her husband, John; Sharon Reichert; and Janice Tippett. She is also survived by her nephew, David Cain; and nieces Allison Reichert; Heather Tippett; and Esther Mbongo and her husband, Luke; by her great-nephew, Ezra Mbongo; and extended family in Kansas, Wisconsin, and Missouri. She will be dearly missed by friends and family alike.
Liane graduated from Leonardtown High School in 1990 and furthered her education at St. Mary’s Community College in Southern Maryland. In 1992, she participated in the Transplant Olympics at UCLA. Liane, who received a new kidney when she was only 6, medaled in the games. An avid swimmer, she placed 2nd in the 100-meter freestyle, bringing home a silver medal. Throughout her life, Liane found joy in various activities, including sewing, reading, watching TV, and creating beautiful arts and crafts. She was particularly fond of spending quality time with her beloved dogs.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
