LEWIS M. BURDETTE, age 73, a resident of Harford County for more than sixty years, died on November 6, 2007 at Forest Hill Health and Rehabilitation in Forest Hill, MD after a long illness. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Archibald Harry and Virginia Mabel Jeffers Burdette. He was a 1953 graduate of Bel Air High School. He worked most of his life as a wood worker and enjoyed working with his hands and growing violets. As an avid baseball fan, he was one of the group of gentlemen that was instrumental in bringing Susquehanna League Baseball to the area. He loved boating and fishing on the Chesapeake, was an avid follower of current and world events and always enjoyed a passionate discussion of those events. He was a history buff who regularly visited Williamsburg and local historical sites, but also enjoyed his annual trips to the “Ocean”. He also had a tremendous love for animals. He loved his family and was involved in his children and grandchildren’s lives and interests. He maintained his sharp sense of humor throughout his illness.
Mr. Burdette is survived by one daughter, Brenda Burdette Warehime and her husband, Ken, of Port Deposit, MD; daughter-in-law, Susan M. Burdette of Bel Air, MD; three grandchildren, Christopher Zinser and his wife, Pam, of Northeast, MD, Nicole M. Zinser of Port Deposit, MD, and Stephen P. Burdette of Bel Air, MD; one brother, Charles Burdette and his wife, Susan, of Churchville, MD; one sister, Lillian Adkins and her husband, Wayne, of Aberdeen, MD; step-mother, Dorothy Burdette of Belcamp, MD; aunts, Lillian Burdette of Aberdeen, MD and Beatrice Merchant and her husband, Ken, of Norwich, NY; uncle, Jeffrey Jeffers and his wife, Dell, of Baltimore, MD ; and former wife and dear friend, Carol Starr Burdette of Bel Air, MD. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a son, Stephen Lewis Burdette.
