Lewis Douglas Jordan

June 13, 1934 — October 18, 2010

Lewis Douglas Jordan, age 76, of Joppa, MD, died on October 18, 2010 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Bel Air, MD, he was the son of the late Edward R. and Alberta Gwynn Jordan. A lifelong resident of Harford County, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving our country during the Korean War. He retired as a foreman from BGE after 40 years, had worked for Harford County Board of Education for 20 years, and was currently working for the Port of Baltimore. A car and motorcycle enthusiast, he enjoyed racing cars for Wilson Motors where he was the first African American Stock Car racer at York International Speedway. He was also a member of the Cobras Motorcycle Club, the Banderleros Motorcycle and Van Club, and the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed traveling, and was a member of Pine Grove Methodist Church in White Hall donating his time to several local churches.

Mr. Jordan is survived by his children, Allen D. Jordan Sr. of Edgewood, MD, Altice M. Jordan of Churchville, MD, Carla A. Jones and husband, Enrico, of Jamestown, NC, Cedric Jordan and wife, Yolanda, of Baltimore, MD, Ken Walton and wife, Sckiya, of Shrewsbury, PA, Orillia Pounds of Joppa, MD, Charlyne Jones and husband, Kevin, of Baltimore, MD, and Tererssa Valentine of Norwalk, CT; brother, James Whittington Sr. and wife, Diann, of Bel Air, MD; 15 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt, Corrina Whittington.

Pallbearers will be Arnold Childress, Paul Dent, Samuel Harriday, Phillip Harris, Joe Waters Jr., and Maurice McCormick.
