LEVATA SHULKA, age 90, of Bel Air, MD, died on March 16, 2007, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Bel Air, MD. Born in Hackley, LA, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Alma Kennedy Ellis. She lived for many years in Metairie, LA, a suburb of New Orleans. After WWII, she moved to Baltimore, MD, and married the late John Shulka, a Baltimore resident, in 1952. They lived in Bel Air, MD, for the remainder of their lives. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bel Air, MD. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Governor William Paca Chapter. She has the largest Weeping Cherry tree in Maryland in her front yard.
Mrs. Shulka is survived by a son, John Daniel Shulka of Bel Air, MD; a daughter, Deborah Sprouse of Madonna, MD; a brother, Elmo Ellis of Baton Rouge, LA; a sister, Sadie Rosetti of Metairie, LA; and two grandchildren, Tracy Alma DiMuzio of Long Island, NY, and Rebecca Jean Blain of Montreal, Canada.
