LESLIE E. RYAN, age 62, of Edgewood, died at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on December 18, 2003 Born in Merced, California, he was the son of the late Robert and Wiebka Marie Reimers Ryan. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for 9 years during the Vietnam Conflict. For 29 years he worked as police communications officer for the Maryland State Police Department, retiring in 2000 from the Bel Air Barracks. At the time of his retirement he was honored for his service and received an honorable award of 1989 Police Communication Officer of the Year. Mr. Ryan was an active member of the American Legion Post # 47, the V.F.W. Post # 8126, and the Maryland State Police Association. His hobbies included fishing, golf, and watching football. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his friends, family, and loving wife with whom he shared 32 years.
Mr. Ryan is survived by his wife, Margaret A. Moody Ryan; one son, David Sincavage of Joppatowne; one daughter, Mary Johnson of Evansville, Indiana; two brothers, Stanley Ryan of Fresno, California; Kenneth Ryan of Boise, Idaho; brother-in-law, Ralph E. Moody of Havre de Grace; seven grandchildren, Ashley Johnson of Havre de Grace; Dustin Johnson of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Alston Johnson of Evansville, IN; Brandon Johnson of Evansville, IN; Kaylee Johnson of Evansville, IN; Cierra Tourville of Joppatowne; Nicholas Sincavage of Ellicott City, MD.
Pallbearers were: Rocky DiGiovanni, Bill Reeves, Tommy Morris, Ralph Moody, Jr., Ron Hall, and Roger Sayers. Honorary pallbearers were: Joseph Sincavage, Scott Moody, Blake Moody, and Blake McCloud.
