Leroy “Buddy” Garner Jr., 85, of Abingdon, Maryland passed away on January 26, 2023 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in East Point, Georgia, he was the son of Leroy Garner Sr. and Lola (Bartlett) Garner. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he worked as an electrician in the construction industry.
Leroy is survived by his wife Joyce Garner; daughters, Linda Garner of Churchville, Kelly Kindle of Spokane, WA and Lisa (Michael) Lane of Abingdon; son, Michael Garner of Abingdon; grandchildren, Zachary (Mai) Kindle, Brandon Kindle, Jennie Gryzbowski, Bethany Lane, Spencer Lane, Janet Langston, Nichole Diemert, Blaze Kindle, and Benjamin Kindle; great-grandsons, Hunter Lane, Ezra Diemert, Isaac Diemert, Eddie Diemert, Owen Diemert, Cameron Langston; great-granddaughters, Sandra Langston, Kaitlyn Langston, McKenna Langston, Daisy Diemert, and Alice Kindle; and brothers, Floyd Garner and Edward Garner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, June Yancey.
Leroy was a talented artist, being proficient in stained glass. In addition to being a member of Aberdeen Church of Christ, he has gifted the church many installations of his work throughout the years. In 70’s and 80’s, Buddy was active in the local Parks and Recreation softball teams. He was a big sports fan, in particular the University of Maryland Terps. Leroy will be missed greatly by his family and will be remembered most for his strong faith in God, deep love of family, and his ability to make fast friends.
The Garner family will be hosting a Memorial Service on Thursday, February 2nd, 2023 at 2:00PM at Aberdeen Church of Christ – 90 Mt. Royal Ave. in Aberdeen, MD 21001. The Service will be livestreamed on Aberdeen Church of Christ’s Facebook page and the church’s website at http://aberdeencoc.org.
