Leroy Beatley

LeRoy Beatley, age 89, of Aberdeen, MD, died on December 18, 2008 at Citizens Care Center in Havre de Grace, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Charles L. and Margaret Gross Beatley and husband of the late Lottie H. Beatley. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had earned his Doctorate Degree in musical education from Washington College in Chestertown, MD. He taught music for over 50 years in schools and privately, mostly the piano and organ. He was the organist for the Archdiocese of Baltimore for many years, and served many churches in Baltimore. Most recently, he taught piano in Havre de Grace and was the organist at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Emmorton, MD, St. Joan of Arc in Aberdeen, MD, Calvary United Methodist Church and Church of the Resurrection in Joppatowne, MD. He was also the organist for William J. Tichner and Henry W. Jenkins funeral homes.

Mr. Beatley is survived by his sister, Ruth Ehrman of Parkville, MD. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Kathleen Martin and a brother Milton Beatley.
