Leonard S. Sills, 66, lifelong resident of Edgewood, peacefully went home to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer, on May 6, 2021, he was surrounded by his daughters, grandchildren, family, and friends.
Graduate of Edgewood High School. Vietnam Era Army Veteran (1973-1976). Aberdeen Police from 1976-1982, District Court Commissioner 1992, Retired from state of MD in 2004.
Longtime member and former Commander of Edgewood American Legion Post 17. Auxiliary member of VFW Abingdon Post 5337. Loved Rock & Roll and Motown music. Avid outdoorsman, his love was the Chesapeake Bay as he was a commercial fisherman for almost 40 years. Loved the Baltimore Orioles. Enjoyed playing billiards and many thought he was very good. Coon hunter, fur trapper, waterfowl guide, decoy maker. Partial to Black & Tan Coonhounds and Chesapeake Bay Retrievers especially his best dog Sam.
Loving father to his twin daughters, Elizabeth Price (Donald Price Sr) of Street, MD and Barbara Dill of Churchville MD. Grandfather to Daniel Cosner and Benjamin “Bailey” Cosner, Carley Zaicko, & Austin Dill. Married to former Suzanne “Gussie” Horne for 45 years. Survived by his sister Joanne Garner.
Proceeded in death by his Mother (Ann Travers Sills), Father (William Boyd Sills Sr.), & Brother (William Boyd Sills Jr.)
