On December 26, 2024, Leonard Clayton Shaw Jr. of White Hall, MD passed away at the age of 74.
Leonard Shaw Jr., affectionately known as Mick by his family and friends, was born on November 6, 1950 in White Hall, MD to Leonard Clayton Shaw Sr. and Agnes Argatha Shaw. Mick graduated from Hereford High school in 1970. Upon graduation, he went on to work for Becton Dickinson for the next 47 years. He also served as a long-time security guard at Sears.
In his younger years, Mick ran track for Hereford High school. As an adult, he enjoyed activities like fishing and hunting. He loved bowling and participated in bowling leagues for many years. Mick also loved cars and worked on them every chance he got, especially his Monte Carlo. On any given day, you could find him in his living room recliner watching the cowboys fight in Westerns or watching his beloved Ravens play. Leonard loved taking trips to Ocean City despite the fact that sand was one of the things he hated most. He was a life-long member of Pine Grove United Methodist church and took his role there seriously. He was also the proud president of the Shaw Family and Friends reunion committee for many years.
Mick was a gentle man with an even temper. He would do anything he could to help anyone he could, any time he could. From fixing cars and repairing walls to giving people rides and everything in between, Mick was available to assist whenever possible. He was a humble man, quiet in nature but never afraid to speak the truth. He was kind and fair and funny when he wanted to be. Mick did things his way and lived his life on his terms.
There was nothing in this world he loved more than his children and grandchildren. Mick would go to the ends of the Earth to make sure his girls and his grands had everything they needed and wanted. He also had a very special relationship with his son-in-law, Antwain, who was in his life for over 30 years and is one of his favorite people. He took immense pride in his family and bragged to anyone who would listen. Nothing was more important to Mick than family.
Leonard is survived by his three daughters, Nickell (Antwain), Lenee, and Dawnelle, one bonus son, Jermell, five grandchildren, Antwan, Dajuan, Dayona, Mariah, and Layla, five bonus grandchildren, Tatiana, Jermell, Jayden, Jayde, and Jamar, four sisters, Doris, Romaine, Norma (Billy) and Sabina, and 14 nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his very best friends Ray, Richard, and Joe and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Agnes Shaw Sr. and his brother, Wondell Shaw Sr.
