Leona P. Carter

Leona Pettigen Carter, age 89, of Aberdeen, MD, went to be with the Lord, on January 20, 2022.  Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the loving daughter of the late Leroy Earl and Helen Tongue. The loving wife of Milton Carter. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She loved the Lord, and enjoyed teaching others about Christ. She also enjoyed her family and cherished any time she got to spend with her grandkids. 

Ms. Leona is survived by her husband of 50 years Milton Carter; children, Berkley (Beverly) Pettigen, Adrienne (Michael) Pearson, Kim Parrish, Jerry (Marie) Guest, Aaron (Karla) Hill, Kathy (Charles) Wilson, Tracy (Diedre) Hill; siblings, Harrison Tilghman, Wayne Tilghman, and Vera Ball; 32 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. 

She is proceeded in death by her children, Vanton (Laverne) Pettigen, Keith (Tanion) Pettigen, James Guest, and Ingrid Guest; siblings, Berkley Tongue, Earline Barnes, Michael Tilghman. 

The family will be hosting a memorial service at New Hope Baptist Church, Bel Air, Maryland
