Leola Marie Bogdan, age 76, of Abingdon, Maryland passed away on April 6, 2022 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Cheverly, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Robert W. Burton and Laura (Williams) Suter, and wife of Peter Bogdan. She was a past president of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, past president of the Abingdon VFW Auxiliary, and past District 5 President of Harford County. At only 10 years old, she was one of the first people in Maryland to have open heart surgery performed by the Blalock Team at Johns Hopkins. In her earlier years she grew up in Muleshoe, Texas. She loved to sew and she was an amazing quilter. She enjoyed collecting teacups, reading, and dancing. She and her girlfriends went to tea often. Leola liked to travel with her friends and family. Above all she loved her family and cherished any time she got to spend with her grandkids.
Leola is survived by her husband Peter Bogdan; daughters, Anita (Bill) Chapman, Susan (James Dozier) Dozier; grandchildren, Rachel (Rees Roberts) McCarthy, Lauren McCarthy, Ashton Dozier; and stepfather, Donald Suter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Peter L. Bogdan, Jr.
