Leila Ljerka Sikovic, age 91, of Abingdon, MD passed away on December 14, 2017 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD with loving family at her side. Born in Zagreb, Croatia, she was the daughter of Ivan and Josephine (Mihokovic) Bernardi and was the wife of the late Anthony Sikovic. She came to the United States in 1942 and became a naturalized citizen. She worked for United States Fidelity and Guarantee for 35 years as a Senior Systems Analyst designing the earliest IBM programs for the insurance industry. In retirement she was a volunteer at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center’s surgery unit. Leila enjoyed travel, the fine arts, classical music, and the opera. She was interested in world history and in all advancements in medicine and science. She followed current events and was politically active in causes important to her.
Mrs. Sikovic is survived by two daughters, Nives A. Herman and Iris J. Scott; two sons-in-law, Ronald J. Herman and Rodney D. Scott Sr.; two granddaughters, Kimberly S. Scott and Tanya K. Bischoff; two grandsons, Rodney D. Scott Jr. and Brandon I. Sikovic; great-granddaughter, Caitlin A. McGuffie; and great-grandsons, Ethan T. Bischoff and Nicholas A. Bischoff.
