Elizabeth Lee Cronin passed away on April 14, 2017 in Fallston, Maryland, just short of her 102 birthday. She was the daughter of the late John L. Irwin and Mayfield (Wright) Irwin. Mrs. Cronin was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Cornelius F. Cronin and her son, Neil C. Cronin. She is survived by her four daughters, Leslie Reedy (David), Wendell Crites (Ron), Lyle Barrett (the late Patrick J. Barrett), and Meredith McKeon (Steve). She is also survived by her brother, Charles W. Irwin as well as four grandchildren, Patrick Barrett, Garrett Smith, Jordan McKeon, Kelsey McKeon and two great-grandchildren; Madeline and Harrison, in addition to many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Cronin graduated from the Tome School in Port Deposit, Maryland and Western Maryland College where she received her degree in education. She returned to Harford County and taught at the former Old Post Road High School in Edgewood. Her love of teaching enriched the lives of all who knew her. Her next career was as a mother of five. For many years she was a Brownie leader and also taught Sunday School at the First Presbyterian Church, where she was a member for most of her life. Mrs. Cronin organized the Bel Air route for Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland for 25 years. She loved sharing her home with family and friends and hosted Sunday dinners for decades with all invited and lovingly welcome. She was a marvelous cook and was known for her homemade rolls and baked goods.
Mrs. Cronin will be remembered as a selfless, kind and giving wife, mother and friend. She had a strong faith and always looked for the best in others and truly appreciated the kindness and caring she received throughout the past years.
