Lee Lewis, age 74, died peacefully in his Delta, PA home, after a long illness, on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Henry Smith and Gladys Rachel Widner Lewis. He obtained his pilot's license at the age of 16 and flew his own plane. He was a heavy equipment operator his entire life and successfully owned his own business. Lee was always striving to provide the best possible life for his wife and children, following major construction jobs across the United States. He moved to Montana prior to coming home to Pennsylvania and was captivated by the Rocky Mountains. He became a big game hunter of moose and elk, a love that was shared by his sons and also enjoyed boating and fishing.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Violet Mae Hill Lewis; three sons, Douglas E. Lewis and wife, Traci of Peach Bottom, PA, Robert L. Lewis of Delta, PA and Bruce H. Lewis of Jacksonville, FL; two daughters and a son from a prior marriage, Dianne S. Manissel of Frederick, MD, Karen, and Michael L. Nelson and wife, Laurie, of Forest Hill, MD; four granddaughters, Kelly and Brittany Lewis of Peach Bottom, PA, Alexandra and Katlyn Lewis of Jacksonville, FL; and grandson, Christopher Manissel of Frederick, MD.
Pallbearers were Ryan Hill, Jeffery Hill, Douglas Hill, Chris Winemiller, Peter Manissel and Christopher Manissel.
