LAWRENCE A. DORMAN, age 77, of Abingdon, MD, died on March 28, 2008 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Bradshaw, MD, he was the son of the late Alma Dorman. He was raised in Harford County by his grandfather, the late Forest Dorman. He attended and graduated from Harford County Public Schools. Lawrence served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1959. He then worked and retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground with a total of 45 years of service. His many friends knew him as "Knockside". He loved to play checkers, which was a challenge for most to beat him. He was a dedicated witness of Jehovah and he symbolized his dedication by water baptism on October 17, 2004.
Mr. Dorman is survived by his wife of 21 years, Josephine Ferguson Dorman of Abingdon, MD; a son, Lawrence Dorman of Baltimore, MD; a daughter, Valerie Triplin and her husband, Wayne, of Glen Burnie, MD; his stepson, Edward Ferguson and his wife, Fannie, of Abingdon, MD; two step daughters, Grace Thomas and her husband, Billy Jr., of Aberdeen, and Margie Witherspoon and her husband, David, of Aberdeen, MD; five sisters, Norma Jean Turner and her husband, Tommy, of Edgewood, MD, Alma Harris and her husband, Phillip, of Abingdon, MD, Doris Johnson of Abingdon, MD, Cheryl Fields-Williamson of Edgewood, MD and Geraldine Dorman of Edgewood, MD; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and two uncles, Peter Dorman of Washington, DC and Augustus Dorman of White Marsh, MD. He was predeceased by a brother, James Davis; and two sisters, Mary Phillips and Betty Gregg.
