LaVERNE RIDGEWAY BRITTON, age 80, of Forest Hill died at his home on March 16, 2005. Born in Towson, he was the son of the late Roy Donzelle and Hazel Ethelburt Green Britton. He retired as a security manager for Fallston General Hospital. He served his country in the United States Army during WW II and was a member of the American Legion Post 39 in Bel Air. He was a member of the American Bowling Congress and the Harford/Cecil Bowling Association. In addition to his many hobbies, his most enjoyable was woodworking and bowling, in 1967 he rolled against PBA Bowling Champion Joe Joseph in a local tournament and brought the house down with his victory over Joseph.
Mr. Britton is survived by his wife, Vera Theresa Schrobsdorff Britton; two sons, CTAC Ron Britton, USN (Ret.) and his wife, Beverly Ann Britton of Bel Air, MD; James Elder Britton and his wife, Sylvia M. Britton of Dover, Delaware; 14 grandchildren, including, CTA2 Ronald L. Britton, Jr. USN of Glen Burnie, MD and Eric John Britton of Bel Air, MD: and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Florence Jean Wayt Britton and their infant daughter, Leslie Jean Britton; his second wife, Betty Lou Marshall Medary Britton; three brothers, Hanlon Kirkwood Britton; Roy Donzelle Britton, Jr.; Severn Duane Britton; and one sister, Hazel Ann Britton.
Pallbearers were: CTA2 Ronald L. Britton, Jr. USN, Eric John Britton, Britt Kyle Kirby, Steve Nash, Tom Davey, and Rick Greezicki.
