Laverne Hoffman

Laverne Hoffman, age 82, of Bel Air, MD, died on October 10, 2009 at Gilchrist Hospice Center in Towson, MD. Born in Swissvale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Dr. V.A. Westin and Ruth Page Westin. An active member of Calvary Baptist Church, she enjoyed teaching Sunday school, was a former member of the choir, and at one time was leader of the Girls Auxiliary of the church. She was also a member of the Woman's Board of the former Baptist Home of MD/DE.

Mrs. Hoffman is survived by her husband of 60 years, Alvan J. Hoffman of Bel Air, MD; son, Glenn Robert Hoffman of Seminole, FL; daughter, Eunice Gwen Rodgers of New Castle, DE; sisters, Shirley Martin of Mechanicsburg, PA and M.J. Malley of North Huntington, PA; two grandchildren, Tracy R. Bean and Gary A. Markowski; and 4 great-grandchildren, Gwen and Allyson Markowski, and Jordan and Alyssa Bean. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Victor A. Westin Jr. and Ralph W. Westin, and sisters, Audrey Wilson and Elizabeth Westin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Howell, David Monath, and Jesse Brewer.
