Laura Ann Schweigman, age 44, of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at her parents home on August 10, 2024. Born in Newport Rhode Island and grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the beloved daughter of Bernard and Cathy (Coulbourne) Schweigman. Laura was known for her compassionate spirit and dedication to helping others. She was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she was deeply involved in her faith community.
Laura put her heart into all her projects while working in the film industry. Some projects Laura was a part of include The Wire, Generation Kill, Astronaut Wives Club, NCIS: New Orleans, and Where the Crawdad's Sing. Some of her proudest accomplishments were as Associate Producer on the television series, Treme, which lead to her love of New Orleans, and Producer of the final season of The Deuce.
Laura’s life was marked by her tireless efforts in fundraising for several charities close to her heart, including the Ella Thompson Fund in Baltimore, Maryland, The Roots of Music, and the Musicians' Clinic, both in New Orleans. Her commitment to these causes reflected her generous and caring nature, always striving to make a difference in the lives of others and supporting communities close to her heart.
In addition to her parents, Laura is survived by her brothers, Bernard C. (Katie) Schweigman III and Andrew (Kati) Schweigman; her sister, Kimberly Schweigman, and husband Colin Barksdale; her cherished nephews, Bernard C. Schweigman IV, Joseph Schweigman, Jeffrey Schweigman, Dylan Schweigman, and Bennett Schweigman; as well as many cousins, aunts, and uncles. She is also survived by her grandparents, Bernard Clarence (Thelma Ann) Schweigman and Doris Coulbourne-Mathis. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Donald Coulbourne.
Laura’s warmth, kindness, and dedication to others will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
