Lambert H. Babec

LAMBERT H. BABEC, age 80, of Havre de Grace, MD, died on April 6, 2006 at the Citizens Nursing Home in Havre de Grace, MD. Born in Havre de Grace, MD, he was the son of the late Peter and Veronica Pincher Babec. He was a maintenance mechanic at the Perry Point VA Hospital, from which he retired, as well as a self-employed painting contractor. He served during WWII in the US Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Chenanango for four years. Mr. Babec won beautification awards from the city of Aberdeen for his flower gardens in both 1988 and 1989. He was a member of Webster United Church of Christ.

Mr. Babec is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris M. Laye Babec of Havre de Grace, MD; two daughters, Rev. Lonna C. Smith of Havre de Grace, MD and Laura H. Babec of Charlotte, NC one brother-in-law, Donald F. Laye, and his wife, Jean Knapp Laye, of Havre de Grace, MD; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Rodia of Havre de Grace, MD and Sadie Storath of Annapolis, MD; two grandchildren, Jerry L. Ashby, and his wife, Teresa L. Ashby, of Havre de Grace, MD and Pamela C. Coyle, and her husband, William Coyle, of San Diego, CA; three great-grandchildren, LCpl. Jerry L. Ashby, Jr. of Camp Lejeune, NC, Austin Inscho and Dillon Coyle of San Diego, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Michael Peter Babec, Joseph Babec and Lee G. Babec; and one sister, Lilyan Laye.
