L. Jane Raber

L. JANE RABER, age 69, of Bel Air, MD, died on July 21, 2007 at Stella Maris Hospice, Timonium, MD. Born in Roaring Springs, PA, she was the daughter of the late Chalmer William Smith Sr. and the late Dorothy Pearl Miller Smith. A 1956 graduate of Northeast High School, she retired, after 25 years, from Safeway Food Stores, where she had worked as a meat wrapper. She was a charter member of Motor Transport Association and a member of the women’s auxiliary at American Legion Post #39 in Bel Air. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, and making crafts with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Raber is survived by her husband, who she married in 1958, Elwood Allen Raber of Bel Air, MD; a son, Kevin Alan Raber and his wife, Sandra, of Gambrills, MD; a daughter, Karen Amoroso and her husband, Dominic, of Jarrettsville, MD; a brother William Smith Jr. of Denver, CO; five sisters, Dottie Forthman of Bel Air, MD, Joanie Alexander of Tampa, FL, Janet Grey and Judy Smith, both of Northeast, MD, and June Roesch of Altoona, PA; and four grandchildren, Jake Amoroso and Josh Amoroso, both of Jarrettsville, MD, and Justin Raber and Colby Raber, both of Gambrills, MD. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, George Smith, and a sister Jean Raneri.
