L. Brooks Ramsey, age 79 of Kingsville, MD passed away on February 1, 2013 at his home. Born in Burnsville, NC, he was the son of the late Salvie Louis and Mabel Grace Westall Ramsey. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served our country in the Korean War. He moved to Maryland in 1954 and lived the majority of his life in Middle River, where he started the Brooks Auto Service business in 1957. Operating briefly in the boat sales business, he later started Brooks Muffler Centers in Essex and in 1994 he started the Brooks Ramsey RV Center in White Marsh where both centers are still in operation today. Brooks was a commercial pilot and sold aircraft in the mid 1980's at Martin State Airport. He was director of Fairmont Federal Savings and Loan for 20 years. He was active in building and expanding several churches, including Middle River Baptist and White Marsh Baptist. He was a member of Rosedale Baptist Church, enjoyed flying, boating and rebuilding vintage farm tractors. He loved his family very much.
Mr. Ramsey is survived by his wife, Chantale Darlene Ramsey of Kingsville; sons, Steve Ramsey and wife, Darlene, Billy Ramsey and wife, Judy and Dave Ramsey and wife, Cathy, all of Fallston, Mike Price and wife, Lisa of Rising Sun and Bret Lurz and wife, Megan of Bel Air; daughter, Sarah Ramsey of Kingsville; brothers, Dennis Ramsey of Inverness, FL, Bob Ramsey of Tucson, AZ and Ron Ramsey of Fairfax, VA; sister, Jeannie Styles of Burnsville, NC; 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Mamie L. Ramsey in 1980, and sister, Mary Ann Washlack.
