Kermit "Jake" Roberts, age 92, of Edgewood, Maryland passed away on November 6, 2022 at his home. Born in Ennice, North Carolina, he was the son of Kermit Roberts Sr. and Rosetta (Smith) Roberts. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Navy and Maryland National Guard and retired from the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant after 30 years of service. He served on the Honor Guard for President Eisenhower and the Berlin Airlift. He was one of the last planes out of Beirut and he served as a plank owner on the USS Saratoga. In 1986 he retired from Harford County Board of Education where he worked as an electrician foreman. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he previously served as an usher, American Legion Post #17 Edgewood, VFW Post #5337 Aberdeen and Mt. Ararat Masonic Lodge in Bel Air. Jake enjoyed camping, reading and spending time at the VFW & American Legion.
Kermit is survived by his wife of 68 years, Naomi (Cage) Roberts; daughter, Sherry Roberts; son, Donald Roberts, (Ret. Lt. Colonel) and his wife Teresa; grandchildren, Dana Roberts, Daniel Roberts, David Roberts, Rachel Bernstein, PhD and Matthew Bernstein; great-grandchildren, Tessa Green-Bernstein, Keira White and Ya'ar James Shabat; brothers, Jack, Aldean and Sam Roberts; and sister, Emma Lou Mullaney.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bane, Wayne, Eugene, Bill and Joe Roberts and sister, Eula Mae Redd.
