Kenneth Absher, age 85, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on January 25, 2021 at Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care in Hunt Valley, Maryland. Born in Hickory, Maryland, he was the son of Wiley and Margaret Nola (Taylor) Absher, and husband of the late Ensa Lee (Burk) Absher
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and worked many jobs through the years, including as a milkman for Pensupreme, a machinist at Bethlehem Steel and Koppers, a heavy equipment operator for Harry T. Campbell & Sons, and a truck driver for B. Green.
He was a Charter Member of the Churchville Lions Club where he received the Melvin Jones Award. He was also a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and the Cedar Gun Club of Dublin.
Kenneth is survived by his son, Jeffrey Allen (Debbie) Absher of Aberdeen, MD; daughters, Kathy Lynn Nelson of Ormond Beach, FL and Valerie Reynolds of Eaton, NY; grandchildren, Kirsten Nicole Cothern of Parkville, MD and Travis Lee (Robyn) Cothern of Bel Air, MD; and great-grandchildren, Breck and Colin Cothern. Surviving siblings are Myrtle “Clara” Carter of Shertz, TX, Bruce Absher of Carney, MD, and Janet Morse of Glen Burnie, MD.
Services were private. A memorial will be held when possible.
