Kathy (Martin) Baker, age 69, of Abingdon, MD passed away on June 13, 2014 at her daughter's home. Born in Baltimore, she is the daughter of the late Garfield Richie and Catherine Loretta (Ambrose) Hamer and wife of the late Paul Norman Baker. An instructional assistant for the Board of Education of Harford County, she had worked at Edgewood Elementary School for 41 years. She was an active member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She was proud of her Native American heritage and belonged to the Buffalo Trace Organization and the DEER group. She enjoyed connecting with old friends through social media. Kathy enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and cherished her time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Baker is survived by her daughters Darlina Martin of Abingdon and Diana Martin and her life partner, Alan Mercer, of Ellicott City; and sister, Eileen Hardesty of Rogersville, TN; brother, Gary Hamer of Grafenwöhr, Germany; and grandchildren, Darius Martin, Silas Mercer and Cayleigh Martin.
