Kathryn "Kay" F. Gorman, age 86, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on November 8, 2023 at Dacota Assisted Living in Aberdeen, Maryland. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late William and Evelyn (Crosby) Gorman. She was of the Methodist faith.
She earned her degree in nursing in 1958 from Union Memorial Hospital School of Nursing where she ultimately completed her Masters degree. Her entire career in nursing was in cardiac care at Union Memorial Hospital as the Intensive Care Educator, training young nurses to be critical care professionals. She wrote all the policies and her involvement in the opening of the cardiac cath lab, cardiac intensive care unit, and open-heart unit were just a few of her professional achievements. Kay loved music, learning to play the piano and organ; she enjoyed reading, watching musicals; she was a devout Orioles and Ravens fan; and, over the years, she treasured the companionship of her feline friends, most recently her Katy. Her greatest love was spending time with her extended family and watching the family grow to include eight great, great nieces/nephews.
Kay is survived by her sister, Genevee Mae Fitch (husband John); nieces, Mary Joanne McCord (husband Dave), Linda Ruth Duvall, Karen Kay Angelini (husband David), and Donna Jean Buettner-Hartsoe (husband Brad); nephew, John Raymond Fitch, Jr. (wife Christine). And Sister-in law, Norma Jean Gorman.
In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by brother, William Clare Gorman, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Harford County Humane Society or the American Heart Association.
