Katherine A. House

Katherine A. House, age 87, of Pocomoke City, MD, formerly of Edgewood, MD, died on March 5, 2009 at Hartley Hall Nursing Home in Pocomoke City, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Hilda Gartner Bean. She was a secretary for the Harford County Board of Education where she retired after 15 years. Her family said she once had the occasion to dance with Fred Astaire when her husband was stationed at Ft. Belvoir, VA. She was an avid reader and enjoyed square dancing well into her 70's.

Mrs. House is survived by her husband of 67 years, Edwin G. House of Pocomoke City, MD; her son, David B. House of Perry Hall, MD; her daughter, Mary K. LaCurts of Pocomoke City, MD; and her granddaughter, Katrina L. LaCurts of Cambridge, MA.
Services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Joppa, MD on Monday, March 9, 2009 with Rev. Paul E. Austin and Rev. Charles H. Lashley officiating. Interment was in the adjoining church cemetery.
