Katharine E. "Betty" Sturgill

Katharine E. "Betty" Sturgill, age 101, of Forest Hill, Maryland, passed away on July 17, 2024, at Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill, Maryland. Born in Forest Hill, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Bessie (Walbeck) Pyle and the beloved wife of the late Reece Sturgill.

Betty was a private individual, known for her no-nonsense attitude and brilliant sense of humor. She cherished her family dearly and valued the time she spent with them. She shared a very special bond with her great-granddaughter Rowan.

Betty's memory will be cherished by her surviving family members and friends.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Joan Wiater, and her husband Richard; grandson, Greg Miller, and his wife Christina; granddaughter, Wendy Wiater; great-granddaughter, Rowan Miller; daughter-in-law, Emily Sturgill; and many loving nieces and nephews. She is also predeceased by four brothers and one sister.

In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by sons, Bill Sturgill, and Tom Sturgill.
