Justina M. Xenakis

November 1, 1957 — November 15, 2021

Justina DeVito Xenakis, age 64, of Forest Hill, Maryland passed away on November 15, 2021 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Justina was born in Long Branch, NJ. She was a graduate of Red Bank Catholic High School and Brookdale Community College. In 1975 she began a 38-year long career as a civilian employee of the U.S. Army at Fort Monmouth, NJ, eventually choosing a career as a Budget Analyst. In 2008 she relocated to Maryland where she worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground until her retirement in 2013.

Justina had fond memories of summers spent enjoying the local beaches while growing up at the Jersey shore, as well as the many travels she shared with her husband over the years. She enjoyed playing golf and painting in acrylics and watercolor. She was a member of the Harford Artists’ Association and displayed her artwork at their gallery. She was a parishioner of St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, Forest Hill, Maryland.

During her illness, Justina was grateful to have the support of countless kind caregivers who provided home care, medical, pastoral, and transportation support. She felt especially blessed to have as a source of strength the continual comfort, encouragement, and presence of loving friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Theodoros, her parents, Frank and Evelyn DeVito, and her aunt Angeline Monzaney. She is survived by her brother, Frank DeVito, Long Branch, NJ; two stepdaughters, Ann White, Amherst, NY and Jeanne Xenakis, Tinton Falls, NJ; eight step grandchildren and one step great granddaughter.

Memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Avenue, 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851.
