June Coomes, age 77, of Bel Air, died on October 26, 2005 at the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.
Born in Atkins, VA, she was the daughter of the late Eli Henry and Annie Belle Haga. She retired after owning and operating the 7-11 store in Bel Air for 21 years. She had worked at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in the 1940s, and also at the Hub in Bel Air. She was an avid reader who enjoyed her family, Native American arts, her flowers, and going to Willow Valley with her family. She attended Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Mrs. Coomes is survived by her husband, of almost 60 years, Duane Coomes; a son, Steve A. Coomes of Bel Air; a daughter, Beverley S. David of Bel Air; daughter-in-law Carolyn L. Coomes of Bel Air; three brothers: Donald Haga, and his wife Fran, of Fallston, George Haga, and his wife Texie, of Butler, TN, and Harold M. Haga, and his wife Peggy, of Baltimore; six grandchildren: Bryan C. Coomes of Bel Air, Tim A.L. Coomes of Stewartstown, PA, R. Michael Coomes of Bel Air, Jeff Whitt of White Hall, Paula Jacob and Connie Raimond, both of Bel Air; eight great-grandchildren, and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many good friends. She was predeceased by a son, Rick D. Coomes, and a brother, Eli H. Haga, Jr.
Pallbearers were: Bryan C. Coomes, Tim A. L. Coomes, R. Michael Coomes, Daniel Haga, Tim Haga, Gary Coomes, Jeff Whitt, and Cindy Coomes. Honorary pallbearer was Michael Coomes.
