Juanita Irwin Scarff

Juanita Irwin Scarff, age 94, of Fallston, MD, died on September 1, 2008 at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, Baltimore, MD. Born in Galax, VA, she was the daughter of the late Felix Mac and Maye Hoppers Irwin and wife of the late Roland Ellsworth Scarff.

Mrs. Scarff moved to Bel Air, MD with her parents as a very young child. She was the oldest with one brother and five sisters. She lived on farms in Fallston and Bel Air her entire life. She always said she wanted to live on the farm and not in a nursing home. She got her wish since she was in the hospital less than 24 hours. She graduated from Bel Air High School with her future husband in the class of 1931. She attended Bridgewater College in Virginia and Western Maryland College in Westminster, MD. She was married to her husband for 60 years. Mr. Scarff passed away 10 years ago.

Mrs. Scarff was very active with her children in the 4H club, the Elkridge Harford Pony Club, the Greenspring Valley Pony Club, the Maryland Horse Show Association and the American Horse Show Association. She loved to make pecan pies, fruit cakes and helping with hundreds of large meals for people in her parent's church Mt. Carmel Primitive Baptist Church. She also loved decorating for Christmas.

Mrs. Scarff is survived by her son, Irwin Roland Scarff Sr. of Fallston, MD; two daughters, Sandra Maye Nichols and husband, William, of Ocean Pines, MD and Deborah Anne Supik-Jones and husband, Dennis, of Monkton, MD; two sisters, Felicia Irwin Jackson of Bel Air, MD and Jeanette Irwin Sims of College Park, MD; and six grandchildren, Melissa Nichols, Kristen Nichols Dunlop, Elizabeth Supik Daley, Michael Scarff, Deborah Scarff Reinsfelder, and Irwin Scarff Jr.; and five great-grandchildren, Courtney Dunlop, William Dunlop, Jeffrey Reinsfelder, Mackenzie Reinsfelder and Jenna Rose Reinsfelder.

Pallbearers will be Irwin R. Scarff Jr., Mike Lynn Scarff, Jeff Reinsfelder, Gary Irwin, Robert Hasty, Craig Cronin, Dan Carson, Paul Cotherman and Mitch Kerr.
