Juan M. Sandoval

Juan Miguel Sandoval Sr., age 91, of Jarrettsville, MD, passed away on April 30, 2014 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Agua Blanca, Guatemala, he was the son of the late Arnulfo Aguirre and Lucila Sandoval. He was strategic in cultivating plants that were needed for rope manufacturing during WWII, which led to his job in the shipping industry and the Merchant Marines where he served almost 30 years. After retirement, he took up landscaping and was well known for his work. He was an avid gardener of which his wife especially enjoyed his corn. A member of Bel Air Church of the Nazarene he, along with his wife, had felt a strong calling to start a Spanish speaking congregation in the area, so they began having services in the basement of their home in Jarrettsville, MD. They, along with their four children, were responsible for establishing the First Latin American Church of the Nazarene of Baltimore located in Dundalk and then relocated to Owings Mills.

Mr. Sandoval is survived by his wife, Aura Candelaria Sandoval; son, Juan Miguel Sandoval Jr. and wife, V. Jannelly, of Jarrettsville; daughters, Angelina Jones and husband, Rondey, of Jarrettsville, Reina Kuehne and husband, R. Michael, of Street and A. Lucila Sandoval-Halsell and husband, Shawn, of Bel Air; grandchildren, Benjamin Jones and wife, Shannon, Angelina and Andrew Jones, Jonathan, Kirsten and Michaela Kuehne and Juan Miguel Sandoval III; sister, Margarita Chevez of Nottingham; nephew, Ignacio Chevez and wife, Brenda, and their children, Isaac, Caleb, Jacob and Selah Chevez, who he was like a grandfather to.
