On May 29, 2008, Joyce Collier O'Leary died of natural causes at the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland at age 84. Born and raised in Meadville, Pennsylvania, daughter of Blanche Yoset and Clarence Collier, she was previously married, in 1944, to John F. O'Leary, of Queenstown, MD, and moved to Bel Air in 1954. There she raised her seven children Patricia O'Leary of Walnut Creek, CA, Mike O'Leary of Encinitas, CA, Ellen Post of Pylesville, MD, Jane O'Leary of Catonsville, MD, Meg Baker of Fallston, MD, Molly Neal of Forest Hill, MD, and Dan O'Leary of Cheyenne, WY, and lovingly nurtured her fifteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Surrounding her fifteen-year career with the Harford County Supervisors of Elections, she was involved in many social, volunteer, and artistic activities. A volunteer for many years at St. Margaret's Church and School, she was also socially active with bridge clubs, bowling leagues, and championship scrabble. Joyce volunteered with Harford Hospice and with Stepping Stones Museum as a master quilter; quilting and gardening were her livelong loves.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites the option of donation to The Joyce O'Leary Memorial Fund for Ataxia Research, 2517 Putnam Rd., Forest Hill, MD 21050
