Joy Mae Hall, age 79, of Joppa, Maryland, passed away on May 16, 2024, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the beloved daughter of the late Frederick and Gladys (Twigg) Shanholtz and the devoted wife of the late Louis Stanley Hall.
Joy's life was marked by hard work, dedication, and a deep love for her family. She worked at Bata Shoe Co. where she met her beloved husband. She spent her early career with the Ladies Garment Union at Misty Harbor in Essex, Maryland. Joy's career also included management roles in several successful Harford County restaurants, where her leadership and commitment shone brightly. In her later years, she enjoyed a fulfilling retirement working at Cracker Barrel, sharing her warm smile and kind heart with many.
Joy was known for her exceptional baking skills. She particularly enjoyed trying to bake apple pies, just right. Her love of travel, which brought her many cherished memories. She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who always put her family first.
Joy is survived by her daughters, Maryann (Stephen) Rey, Peggy (Bruce) Huffman; her brother, George F. (Terry) Shanholtz; her granddaughters, Jennifer Mae (Chris) Walters, and Sarah Ann Hall; her grandsons, Walter Bruce (Megan) Huffman III, Brandon Wade Huffman, and Jason Louis Hall; and her great-grandsons, Perry Louis Walters and Lennox Liam Walters.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joy was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Louis Hall and sister, Viola Downes.

Joy will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
