JOSEPH “SONNY” EDWARD LEWELLYN, JR., born March 22, 1934. After a long battle with lung cancer, Mr. Lewellyn died in his home in Abingdon, Maryland on September 25, 2005.
Beloved husband of Jeanette Adkins Lewellyn for over sixteen years, devoted father of Pamela Lewellyn Nunan of St. Cloud, Florida and Amy Lewellyn of Plantation, Florida: and son-in-law, Brian Nunan of St. Cloud, Florida.
Devoted step-father of Tammy White and her husband, Richard of Joppa, MD and to Donald Burlin of Baltimore.
Cherished grandfather to Jennifer Nagel Shotwell and her husband, Jody of Fort Meade, MD; Katie Nagel of Beltsville, MD and Heidi White of Joppa, MD..
Loving great-grandfather to Mackenzie Paige Shotwell of Fort Meade, MD and Taylor Marie Folson of Beltsville, MD.
Born in Pomona, California, son of the late Geneva Snyder Lewellyn/Fisk and Joseph E. Lewellyn, Sr. of Hyattsvillle, MD.
Brother to the late Nancy Lewellyn Mulligan and Jean Ann Lewellyn.
Also survived by brother-in-law, Ralph (Peanuts) Mulligan of Edgewater, MD, aunts, uncles, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins on his side of the family (Lewellyn/Snyder); and by his wife’s brothers and sisters and extended family (the Adkins), and by former spouse, Miriam Morgan of Florida.
He retired from Asbestos Workers Union- Local #24. He was a member of Mt. Hermon Lodge #179- Hyattsville and Kena Shrine and PAGG of Job’s Daughters of Maryland. He served in the United States Marine Corp.
