Joseph Nance, age 50, of Edgewood, MD, died on February 11, 2011 at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. Born in New Albany, IN, he is the son of David Lee Nance Sr. and the late Dorothy May Brooks Quinn. A resident of Harford County for 22 years, he worked for Chesapeake Crane Service as a mechanic and was a member of Operating Engineers Union Local 37. He was president of Edgewood Rec Baseball and Softball where he was a phenomenal coach to many kids. He loved sports and "lived for spring" and was the type of person who enjoyed taking charge and would always say "yes". He also enjoyed woodworking and loved family pictures.
Mr. Nance is survived by his wife of 30 years, Susan M. Nance of Edgewood, MD; children, Amanda L. Rutherford and husband, Christopher P., of Joppa, MD, Kristen L. Nance of Bel Air, MD, Timothy J. Nance of Joppa, MD, Andrew C. Nance and Emily R. Nance, of Edgewood, MD; brothers, David L. Nance Jr. of IN, Rodger C. Nance, Richard I. Nance, and John W. Nance, all of PA; sister, Dorothy M. Nance of PA; grandchildren, Matthew A. and Benjamin M. Rutherford of Joppa, MD; and mother-in-law, Camille V. Hamilton of PA. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his brother, James L. Nance and sister, Charlotte A. Nance.
