Joseph Glenn Miller

February 13, 1923 — December 5, 2024

Joseph Glenn Miller, age 101, of Edgewood, Maryland, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, at Viva Senior Living in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Boone, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ada (Winebarger) Miller and the beloved husband of the late Sue L. Miller, to whom he was married on June 16, 1946, in Boone, NC.

A proud veteran of World War II, Glenn served in the U.S. Army and courageously fought in the Battle of the Bulge and against the Colmar Pocket. He was stationed in Schmallenberg, Germany, when the war came to an end. After his honorable military service, Glenn dedicated ten years to Glenn L. Martin as a production control supervisor before spending twenty-three years as a tool engineer at American Cyanamid. He later served as Vice President at Pollux Corporation in Jessup, MD, for three years following his retirement in Havre de Grace.

A man of deep faith, Glenn was a longtime member of New Life Baptist Church in White Marsh, where he served as a Trustee. Over the years, he also served as a church Treasurer for a remarkable 35 years at two different congregations.

Glenn's passions extended far beyond his professional and spiritual life. He was a gifted gardener and canner, often sharing the fruits of his labor with loved ones. A talented poet and songwriter, he brought joy to many with his music and singing at church. His inventive spirit led him to hold several patents, a testament to his ingenuity and resourcefulness.

Glenn is survived by his loving niece, Cleta Norris, and her husband Jerry; his nephew, Richard Holman, and his wife Claudia; great-nieces Andrea Norris and family, Laura Norris, and Katie Holman; great-nephew Todd Holman and family; and his sister-in-law, Edith Miller. He is also remembered fondly by many other loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Rex Miller, and fourteen brothers and sisters.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Viva (formerly known as Commonwealth) Senior Living in Bel Air. Their unwavering kindness and care for Glenn will forever be remembered, as they loved him as one of their own.

For those who desire, contributions may be made in Glenn's memory to New Life Baptist Church, 5501 Lloyd Avenue, White Marsh, MD 21162.

Condolences may be left on the online guestbook at mccomasfuneralhome.com.
