JOSEPH LaBRECQUE, age 80, of Joppa, died at Gilchrist Center at Great Baltimore Medical Center on May 27, 2004. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Arthur and Cordelia Cote Labrecque (no capital b in this name), and the husband for 58 years of the late Gertrude Doris Simard LaBrecque. A longtime resident of Massachusetts, he moved to Joppa in 1965. He served his country as a captain in the Merchant Marines from 1940-1965 when he retired. He served during D Day in Normandy. In 1985 he retired as a Port Captain where he worked for Waterman Steamship Corp. in Dundalk. He was a member of the St. Stephen Parish in Bradshaw.
Mr. LaBrecque is survived by four daughters, Sister Lorraine Theresa McGraw, OSF of Illinois; Linda Marcella Ross of Aberdeen; Michelle Helen Moore of Jarrettsville; Elaine Marie Quinn of Bel Air; two sisters, Theresa Riley of Dunedin, Florida; Madeleine Beaudoin of Nashua, New Hampshire; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by one son, William Joseph LaBrecque; two sisters, Gabrielle Forzese; and Annette Marshall.
