JOSEPH JAMES HLADKY, age 87, of Parkville, formerly of Abingdon, died at Oak Crest Village on January 8, 2005. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Joseph James and Helen Fraley Hladky and the husband of the late Mary Regina Hladky. A resident of Harford County for 49 years, he was retired from Bethlehem Steel after more than 40 years of service where he was Chief Accountant of the Fuel Department, and operated, along with his wife, a tax accounting business from his home many years. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was part of the D Day Landing. He was a long time member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Abingdon, a member of the Knights of Columbus Post 47, and a past member of the Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company.
Mr. Hladky is survived by two sons, Joseph J. Hladky, Jr. of Monkton and Stephen E. Hladky of Forest Hill; three daughters, Regina H. Novotny of Annapolis, Theresa H. Mitchell of Pylesville, and Julia A. Lowman of Thurmont; and 14 grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his son, Mark Hladky.
