Joseph Francis Ball, Sr. "Pappy Joe", died at the age of 96 on July 28, 2016 at Greenfield Senior Living in Bel Air, MD. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Jethro and Catherine (Dominici) Ball and was the husband of the late Eloise Allegra (Lutz) Ball. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during WWII in Germany, and participated in campaigns in Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. Along with his late wife, they owned Curry Cleaners in South Park, PA. He helped his daughter as chief puppet maker and equipment manager for many Day Care shows and enjoyed going up to "Camp" in Tidioute, PA with his sons. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church in Bel Air and a former member of Nativity Church in South Park, PA for 47 years. He was also a life member of the Knights of Columbus (Forest Hill and Pittsburgh) and the VFW Post #8803 (Tidioute, PA). He will be buried next to his beloved wife, Eloise, at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Survivors include his sons Joseph Francis Ball Jr. of Pittsburgh and Jay C. Ball (Barb) of Bel Air; daughter Eloise "Candy" Draksler (John) of Bel Air; grandchildren Jody Lynn, Nicholas Draksler (Kelly), Jason Draksler (Danielle), Carrie Ann Draksler, Chuck Greco and Pete Greco; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife he was predeceased by his sister Katheryn (Kay) Fournier and brother Jethro (Bud) Ball.
