June 30, 1948 — February 5, 2024

With sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of Joseph Edward Kelleher, Jr., age 75, of Joppatowne, Maryland. Joseph, affectionately known as "Chip," departed this world on February 5, 2024, at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Towson, Maryland.

Born and raised in Maryland, Chip was the cherished son of the late Joseph and Jane (Dunnington) Kelleher. He shared 49 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Gloria (Winterling) Kelleher. Chip leaves behind a legacy of dedication, compassion, and love that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. In Chip’s final days surrounded by family he said “you get the love you give”

Chip’s professional journey was marked by a commitment to education and technology. He dedicated 13 years to teaching secondary mathematics in Baltimore City public schools, shaping the minds of countless students. Later, he served as an assistant professor in the career and technology division at several local colleges for 20 years, where he became the first full-time faculty member and program coordinator for computer programming. Chips impact extended beyond the classroom as he devoted eight years to the campus faculty council.

Outside of his career, Chip was an entrepreneur, owning and operating Southern Computer Services. He was a skilled computer consultant, known for his expertise in building and repairing computers. Beyond his professional endeavors, Chip found joy in simple pleasures. He and his wife, Gloria, enjoyed camping and embarking on road trips together. He cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. Chip was a man of many passions and talents. He generously shared his time and knowledge as a volunteer tutor at St. Stephens School, where his dedication to education continued to shine. In his leisure time, Chip pursued hobbies such as fishing, softball, pool, photography, golf and reading, enriching his life with diverse experiences.

Chip will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, a caring father, a cherished brother, adored grandfather, and a loyal friend. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and warmth that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Chip is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Kelleher; his daughters, Jaime (Christopher) Bancells and Kimberly Kelleher; his son, Christopher (Jennifer) Kelleher; his brothers, Michael Kelleher, and David Kelleher; his sisters, Joan Jarosinski, and Jane Ann Kress; and his adoring grandchildren, Zachary Cornman, Emma Cornman, Brayden Cornman, Ryan Bancells, Landon Kelleher, and Parks Kelleher.
