JOHN “BUTCH” ZEIGENFUSE, age 59, of Joppa, died at Baltimore Rehabilitation and Extended Care Facility, Baltimore on November 21, 2003. Born in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Melvin John and Helen Cain Zeigenfuse. For 30 years, he was a self-employed iron worker. He co-owned .Cornerstone Welding Company. He loved the Baltimore Ravens and enjoyed golfing, playing cards and chess. He faithfully attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Joppatowne. He was a member of the Essex V.F.W. and the Moose. He was a loving father and grandfather. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict.
Mr. Zeigenfuse is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Meade Zeigenfuse, two daughters, Michele Cress of Abingdon; Amy Zeigenfuse of Essex; step-son, John Bahl of Cub Hill; two step-daughters, Melinda Taylor of Edgewood; Barbara Smith of Hampstead, Maryland; one brother, Bernard Zeigenfuse of Aberdeen; three sisters, Marie Schaub of Westminster; Nancy Chapman of Jekyll Island, Georgia; Doris Laskuski of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by a dear friend, Linda Steever and her family.
Pallbearers were: Robert Weatherby, Russell Cress, Bernard Zeigenfuse, Keith Steever, Tom Lowe, and Joseph Deasel.
