JOHN WILSON, age 85, of Bel Air, MD, died on March 4, 2006 at the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late John and Kathryn Lewis Wilson. A Harford County resident for 37 years, Mr. Wilson attended the Patton Trade School in Elizabethtown, PA and was a machinist at the Glen L. Martin aircraft plant in Middle River, MD for 6 years before working for 37 years as a gauge maker and engineering technician at the Edgewood Area of the Aberdeen Proving Ground. He served for 2½ years in the US Army during WWII and saw battles in the Rhineland, Central Europe and Northern France. He was a member of the Parkville, MD Post #183 of the American Legion. An avid fisherman and hunter, he was a member of the Moose Lodge of Hickory.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alice A. DelGavio Wilson of Bel Air, MD; one son, John Wilson, Jr., and his wife, Linda A. Wilson of Forest Hill, MD; one daughter, Kitty Wilson of Bel Air, MD; five grandchildren, John Wilson III and Todd A. Wilson, both of Tallahassee, FL, Kristen M. Wilson of Forest Hill, MD, Leo A. Mierzwicki II of Boxford, MA and Andrea M. Strobel of Bel Air, MD; and two great-grandchildren, Corrine M. Strobel and Avery L. Strobel, both of Bel Air, MD.
