John William Anderson

JOHN WILLIAM ANDERSON, age 81, of Abingdon, MD, died on May 27, 2007 at Forest Hill Mariner, Forest Hill, MD. Born in Grant, VA, he was the son of the late Ellis L. and Gincy Alberta Tucker Anderson. In his early years, he owned his own dairy farm in Dublin, MD. He was baptized in the Susquehanna River near Conowingo Dam by Rev. Walter Burcham on July 17, 1949. From 1947-1963 he played baseball with the Susquehanna Association and from 1963-1989 he played softball with various Church leagues. He helped build the Bel Forest Baptist Church sanctuary addition, parsonage and the fellowship hall. He was Sunday school director at Bel Forest for 14 years. He then joined Oak Grove Baptist Church where he was deacon, usher, trustee and Sunday school teacher. He taught Sunday school for 64 years. He enjoyed camping and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, who truly loved his Lord.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann R. Hill Anderson of Abingdon, MD; two sons, John W. Anderson Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of Joppa, MD, and Richard D. Anderson and his wife, Debby, of Bel Air, MD; two daughters, Roseann Cieri and her husband, Jack, of Harrisburg, PA and Rosemary L. Crowder and her husband, Phillip, of Bel Air, MD; a sister, Gladys Marie Crouse of Bel Air, MD; five grandchildren, Christine Sayers of Joppa, MD, Brian D. Anderson of Bel Air, MD, Leann Paradise of Rising Sun, MD, Kyle Anderson of Bel Air, MD and Robert Crowder of Bel Air, MD; and two great-grandchildren, Alex and Brooke Sayers of Joppa, MD.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by five brothers and five sisters.

Pallbearers will be Richard Blevins, Douglas Hammer, Brian Anderson, Kyle Anderson, James Testerman and Thomas Walls.
