John W. Beilfuss

John W. Beilfuss, 69, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on May 3, 2015 at Gilchrist Hospice in Towson, MD. Born in Milwaukee, WI, he was the son of the late Bernard Frank Beilfuss and Renatta Lillie (Reinke) Beilfuss. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Physics from Wisconsin State University - Whitewater and his Master's Degree in Systems Engineering from Stevens University. John, a Civil Servant for 47 years, finished his career as Lead Project Officer for Army Research Lab at Aberdeen Proving Ground.

Mr. Beilfuss was very involved at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd where he was an active member. Over the years he served as a council officer, chair for various committees, and a faithful participant in the music program. John also gave much time to the Town of Bel Air. He played flute for the Bel Air Community Band for 20 years, served on the Forth of July Committee, and for the last 14 years managed the Bel Air Summer Concert Series, the May and September Lunchtime Concert Series, and managed entertainment for the Bel Air Arts Festival. He enjoyed playing flute and studied under Marcia Kämper, flutist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. He also enjoyed hiking, photography and trains (both real and model), and was a HAM radio operator since his youth.

Mr. Beilfuss is survived by his wife of eight years, Vicki C. Beilfuss; sons, Brett Beilfuss and wife, Christina, of Cincinnati, OH and James Brasefield of Jefferson, MD; daughters, Lauren Beilfuss Leonard and husband, John, of Dublin, Ireland and Megan LeDuc and husband, Patrick, of Owings Mills; and grandsons, William Scott and Finley John Beilfuss.
