John Thomas Bledsoe Sr., age 92, of Bel Air, Maryland went home to be with the Lord on October 20, 2022. Born February 15th 1930 in Dunbar, Virginia, he was one of nine children born to Raleigh Miles Bledsoe and Gertrud Parish. He attended Wise County public schools until 1946 when he entered the U.S. Army and served in the Big Red One Unit in Germany for 9 years. After his service, he met his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara Ruth Gardner of Tennessee in Baltimore. John worked for the Mass Transit Authority in Baltimore for 40 years and retired in 1994. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church since 1970 where he served as usher and deacon and attended Family Bible Study for over 52 years.
John is survived by his wife Barbara; son John Jr. and his wife Mary of Bel Air, Maryland; and grandson, Benjamin Christopher Bledsoe of Timonium, Maryland.
His faith and his church were what he prized. He also loved his family and enjoyed his time at home, working in the yard and on his vehicles. He touched many hearts with his quiet gentle way.
