John Kenneth Seippel

October 16, 1919 — October 10, 2024

Parkville

Ken Seippel passed away at his home in Parkville, Maryland, on October 10, 2024, at the age of 104. He lived a professional life of service to American technology, working for Lockheed Martin, NASA, and the Department of Defense.

His leadership of the extended Seippel family after his discharge from the Air Force following World War II was marked by a warm and good-natured spirit that helped form and sustain its members. Ken’s marriage to his beloved wife, Jeanne Marie Light, thrived for over 60 years until her passing. Jeanne and Ken were sociable within their community, known for their longstanding friendships built around bridge parties. They also traveled extensively throughout Europe.

Ken set a fine example of character in life for his sons, Leigh (and his late wife, Susan), Scott (wife, Darlene), and Ron (wife, Catherine), as well as his grandchildren, Alexander (wife, Mirka), Erin Bane (husband, Patrick), and Lauren McAdams (husband, Jamie). He was also the proud great-grandfather of Alzebeta Seippel, Imogene Seippel, Grayson Bane, and Declan Bane.

Ken was the heart of hundreds of family gatherings over several decades, from family homes in Maryland to Manhattan, the Hudson River Valley, and even Ireland, London, and Prague. At traditional crab feasts during these reunions, Ken delighted in teaching youngsters and guests how to expertly “pick” Chesapeake crabs. Always athletic, he passed on the basics of baseball and tennis to his sons and instilled in them a love for sports.

Though Ken Seippel has passed, he will live on in the hearts and minds of his family, for whom he will always remain a shining example of a good man.

Family will be hosting a Private Graveside Service.
