John Robert Denbow Sr.

John Robert Denbow Sr., age 90, of Gwynn Oak, MD, died on Friday, November 11, 2011 at Augsburg Lutheran Home in Gwynn Oak, MD. Born in Benson, MD, he was the son of the late Elwood and Isabel (Smithson) Denbow. He was a veteran of the US Army who was awarded the Bronze Star in World War II while serving in the South Pacific Theater. He worked for Acme Supermarkets as the manager of the meat department for 43 years before retiring. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed his bonsai plant club. In addition, he enjoyed making birdhouses.

Mr. Denbow is survived by his wife of 65 years, Anna R. (Rampley) Denbow of Gwynn Oak, MD; a son, John R. Denbow Jr. of Bel Air, MD; one grandchild, Justin Denbow of Bel Air, MD; and one great-grandchild, Chloe Denbow of Bel Air, MD.
