John R. White

John R. White, age 71, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on March 2, 2013 at his home. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Roy Slakem and Yvonne Ruth Heinz White. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a graduate of City College, the University of Baltimore and Loyola, and was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Mr. White worked for over 50 years serving the handicapped and mentally disabled. He recently retired from the Alliance where he served the homeless. He loved to read, especially WWII History, and in his younger years loved mountain climbing and kayaking. He also loved antiquing, yard work, his favorite cat Sammy but had a special love for the city of Havre de Grace.

Mr. White is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carole Anne White; daughter, Christina Marie Edwards and husband, Jeff, of Winterville, NC; grandchildren, Tiffany Hartman, Felicia Edwards and Julian John Edwards; and great-grandson, Emmett Hartman. He cherished the lifelong friendships of Pete Sartwell and Bill Kidd.
