John R. Spielberger Sr.

John R. Spielberger, Sr., age 64, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on December 18, 2020 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the beloved son of John Jacob and Margaret (Hasuly) Spielberger and adored husband of 20 years to Gail (Donovan) Spielberger. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as an officer in the JAG Corp for three years. He was an outstanding lawyer, advocate, and leader of the highest integrity. John was the President and CEO of the Property and Casualty Insurance Guarantee Corporation where he worked for the past seven years. He was an avid musician, playing acoustic, bass, and electric guitars, piano, and keyboards. He had a uniquely brilliant mind, and thoroughly enjoyed reading, art, music, military history, travel, camping, hiking, golfing, and sailing. He had a pure and unbridled sense of adventure. John loved spending time with his family and his German Shepherds, Grant and Sherman.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his loving children who gave him the greatest joys and always made him proud: son Daniel J. Spielberger of Bel Air; daughter, Dr. Jeanine (Spielberger ) Shah and son-in-law Kuntal Shah, of Paradise Valley, AZ; grandchildren, Kai and Sid Shah; and dearest cousins, Maryjane and Michael Woertz.

In his lifetime, John achieved his greatest passion of living to create beautiful memories.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John Robert Spielberger, Jr.
