John Paul Leard, age 88, of Joppa, MD, formerly of Remington, MD, died on October 27, 2009 at his home. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late George Russell Leard and Alice V. Baker Leppert. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served in Patrol Squadron 74 during WWII, and was a member of the Edgewood Arsenal Retired Breakfast Club. He was also a member of Joppatowne Christian Church, and was an assistant Boy Scout Leader for Troop #100 where he was also the cook.
Mr. Leard is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mildred Gertrude Drury Leard of Joppa, MD; sons, Raymond F. Leard and wife, Joan, of Towson, MD and Ronald A. Leard and wife, Donna, of Edgewood, MD; daughter, Karen M. Heilman and husband, Terry, of Joppa, MD; brother, Russell G. Leard of AZ; sister, Margaret Cox of Glen Burnie, MD; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
